Day 8 - Mile 2,052: Black Hills

The Black Hills of South Dakota turned out to be filled with fun things to see.  After a stunning drive through the Badlands in the morning we spent the afternoon touring Custer State Park where bison, prong horn deer and wild mules were plentiful -- a great spot for watching wildlife.

The campgrounds were packed full so we drove to the town of Deadwood which is known for being the wild, wild west back in the day with inhabitants such as Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane.  Although a touristy spot and filled with gambling parlors, we had fun at the "saloon" and got a dose of what it was like to live back in the mid-1800's.

As we left the Black Hills and headed west we followed 85 South which was a beautiful route through the mountains.  We stopped for a Fin pitstop  and stumbled upon  a gorgeous stream.
