Last night the fog appeared to be lifting but this morning it has gotten worse. Several boats left the marina only to return with reports of 5 feet of visibility!
We were hoping to get an early start to stay clear of tropical storm Bret that is 398 nm offshore. Chances are we'll hold off for 1-2 hours.
Once underway, the plan is to travel 5 nm off the Jersey coast with bail out points 30 (Atlantic City), 34 (Manasquan) and 60 (Sandy Hook) nm apart. Our waypoints are set, our ditch bag filled, and our zodiac (aka 'Boatcoup' as Laila has cleverly named her) is being lashed to the deck as our makeshift liferaft.
Now just waiting for the fog to lift...
