Preparing for Sandy

We spent the last two days preparing for the storm and now are sitting and waiting for the monster to arrive. Lance's sister Judy was visiting for the last few days and we had big plans to go sailing but with the impending storm that wasn't possible.  So Judy spent her vacation helping us to prepare for the storm.

Toots on the hard in Millenbeck

Thanks to other family members, Jon and Mariellen, and friends, Mike and Lois, we were able to pull Toots out of the water and store her on land on the western side of the Corrotoman.  As long as no trees fall, she should be perfectly fine.

We were not able to get our Cape Dory hauled so we pulled her out of her slip  and placed her away from the pilings.  We tied her from various angles and even through out an anchor on the starboard side to keep her in place.  We did this the last time a major storm came through and she was perfectly fine.  Our last concern is the battery and bilge pump -- as long as they don't fail then it should prevent water from filling up the sol and causing her to sink.   The water level already is over the dock.  Now it's a matter of waiting and waiting and waiting until the storm rolls through.  As long as the Internet is up and running, we'll keep our blog up to date.
