Beaune and Burgundy

The weather in Burgundy was picture perfect -- neither too hot nor too cold....just ideal!  We stayed at the lovely Hotel le Clos outside Beaune.
We visited Chateau de Pommard, one of Lance's favorite Burgundy producers.
Their museum displayed some amazing tools of the trade including this massive grape press.
Their gardens were also top notch and, as Lance said, were better than Giverny.
The local market in Beaune was filled with wines, mustards and of course truffles where the local truffle hunter displayed his trove of newly unearthed gems.
The Hospices de Beaune was well worth a tour.  It was founded in the 1700s as the first hospital in France and became the model for the hospital system throughout in France.
We capped off trip our with a fabulous dinner at Hostellerie de Levernois -- an excellent way to end a very, very good trip!

As we made our way back to Paris to catch our flight from Charles de Gaulle, within sight of the Europcar drop off point we got caught in the taxi strike protesting the Uber car service.  The protest started just as we pulled into the airport so we sat for 20-30 minutes until the police cleared a path for the cars to snail through the protesters.  It was then that we knew it was time to head home.
