Plotting the Next Adventure

After a decade of planning most of our trips, Stephanie has gladly passed the "travel planning" baton to Lance and he is hating every minute of it!  Now he realizes that mapping out an exciting trip takes some effort.

To kick-start the planning process we laid out a map of the U.S. and then we used colored stickies to mark the places we'd like to visit along the way.  The blue stickies (Lance's color) amounted to only 5 all plotted out West along the Oregon and Northern California border (no surprise...wine country).  The green stickies (Stephanie's color )  totaled 25+ and looked like an ant trail at a picnic as it snaked its way across the map.  Next we plotted pink stickies which represented the interesting places discovered in our ever growing library of travel books.  And voila...we now have a route plotted from  Coast to Coast and back.

Our preliminary itinerary will take us via Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and then on to Oregon.  From there we will head south through northern California  and then likely take a more southern route back via Utah, New Mexico, Arkansas, Tennessee and North Carolina.  But of course this is all subject to change based on the whims of the day.
