Clearly you are in a rugged part of the country when the mountain ranges are named after the Devil and the summits are named She Devil, He Devil and the Ogre.
We dined in Council (pop. 834) at The 7 Devils Cafe named after the nearby mountain range with 7 peaks over 9,000 ft. It is reported that on a clear day from the peaks one can see Montana, Washington and Oregon from this corner of Idaho.
The cafe was filled with locals and the walls were adorned with pictures of famous and not so famous cowboys. There wasn't a single person in the restaurant staring into a smart phone. Instead lively conversations were about the calf that took best-in-show at the county fair and the good looking horses at last night's rodeo. Now that's the real America we came in search of!
