As we left the rolling hills of Lexington, we made a brief stop at Woodford Reserve bourbon distillery. Then we carried on west towards St. Louis.
Our campsite for our stay in St. Louis was in the suburb of St. Charles just north-west of the city and smack next to the railroad and underneath the airport flight path. Although it does not sound appealing, it turned out to be an optimal campground for two reasons. First, it is located right next to the Katy Trial, a rail-to - Trial bike path which Stephanie had been keen to experience. Second and more importantly, our water pump malfunctioned and a mechanic was needed. Fortunately the campground had a mechanic on call.
The highlight of our visit was catching up with Elliot and his wife Freydel. Elliot and Stephanie were co-class presidents at SAIS and then housemates in NYC for several years. Elliot now owns a company that imports stone (marble, granite, etc.) from around the world.
