After leaving the Redwoods, we drove down the California coast via route 1. It was slow going as the road was twisting and turning...the posted speed limit dipped to 10 mph at the sharpest of hairpin turns.
We drove down the coast to Mendicino which marked our turning point to begin our treck back East.
Much to our surprise we found a campground right on the lake and due to all the forest fires in the area we ended up being the only guests. Clear Lake is the largest natural lake in California (it would be Lake Tahoe if half of the Lake was not in Nevada). It turned out to be a great stop for the night.
