As we drove from Clear Lake towards Tahoe, the impact of the forest fires was apparent. Route 20 had been closed just 2 days before so we saw the scorched earth first-hand.
So far this year there have been over 1,400 fires that the California Fire Fighters have been battling. One of the worst fires burned over 65,000 acres and destroyed at least 45 homes.
As we drove along route 20 was passed many fire trucks and had to be mindful of fire trucks entering and exiting the roadway.
