Several years ago I got inspired to create an edible garden. One of the first plants to be planted was a pair of small scraggly hazelnut bushes that were about 18" tall.
At first I worried that both plants were either male or female as no fruit had set. But alas five years later the first crop of nuts has arrived. Now it is obvious which plant is male and which is female (fyi...the prettier one is female!).
The next challenge will be to beat the squirrels to the first harvest. Stay tuned!
