Tomorrow morning Lance, Fin and I set out for a ten day adventure along the "Crooked Road" in southwest Virginia. Virginia's "Heritage Music Trail" meanders 300 miles along Rt. 58 from Floyd to Clintwood and beyond. It includes numerous venues from the Blue Ridge Music Center, the Ralph Stanley Museum, the Carter Family Fold...to Friday night jamborees at the Floyd Country Store.
This trip originally started out with the intent of exploring family roots, but has turned into a multi-pronged adventure (no surprise!). In addition to enjoying the bluegrass music along the way, we have the ambitious goal of biking the Creeper Trail (34 mi.) and the New River Trail (50+ mi.). Normally that wouldn't be a major feat, but in this case we'll be carting along Fin (our 95 lb lab) in his doggie stroller! We also hope to hike both Mt. Rogers and the Russell Fork River Canyon.
It's bound to be an adventure...stay tuned!
