An Outstanding Culinary Experience!
Our friends, Peggy and Jamie Stalnaker, encouraged us to visit the Town House Restaurant in Chilhowie. We are thrilled to have taken their advice as it proved to be an outstanding dining experience.
Situated in a small town between Abingdon and Roanoke, the Town House is a one of a kind experience. We were not exactly sure how to describe it -- experimental, innovative, sophisticated -- anyway it's nothing but excellent.
We had a six course dinner that delivered tastes we never knew existed. This is a picture of the first course which was fresh peas, pea shoots, mint, scrambled egg and vanilla. Our favorite was titled 'tastes of the pasture' which included grass, straw, faro and other unusual ingredients. It knocked our socks off! The mussels and asparagus dish was a delight as was the dessert which included several types of chocolate, tomato and ashes. Each dish was unique and delivered extraordinary tastes. The wine was equally delightful and was carefully paired by Charlie Berg who is the master Sommelier.
