Mile 2,691: Buck Pond, Adirondacks

Buck Pond turned out to be a gem of a campsite. To our surprise there were plenty of sites available so we managed to find one that was perfectly level which meant we didn't need to fiddle with the orange lego blocks under the wheels. The campground has a beautiful beach so Stephanie swam both days.  We each took a nice bike ride along the edge of the lake. We also managed to rent a canoe before the storm rolled in. The wind picked up just as we got to the middle of the pond. We had to duck behind an island and then scoot along the shore to keep out of the wind.

The weather earlier in the day was much warmer then it had been the entire trip so we were reminded that our trip is entering its final leg. Fortunately a storm rolled in yesterday evening and brought with it ideal temperatures.  We managed to put the grill and foldable chairs away just before the storm arrived but as we started to put away the awning buckets of water poured from the sky. In our haste we forgot to lower the extensions so when we let the release go the awning shot up into the sky.  Luckily Lance was tall enough to reach the catch and was able to get the awning back into place.  The three of us dodged into the rv and rode out the storm.
